Editorial image for the Clements and Church story

Clements+Church founder, Mark Nash, speaks with Umberto Paccotto, Sales Director of Fratelli Tallia Di Delfino, about craftsmanship, innovation and why fabric is the soul of great tailoring.

This is just a small taste of this chat, the full version of this conversation between Mark and Umberto is available on our YouTube channel - youtube.com/@clementsandconversation

Mark Nash: Umberto, Fratelli Tallia Di Delfino is synonymous with excellence in cloth. What does fabric mean to you personally?

Umberto Paccotto: Fabric is emotion. It’s the first thing you feel, before cut, before design. I grew up surrounded by textiles, mills and conversations about fibre and touch. For me, fabric carries memory and responsibility. It must respect tradition while constantly evolving.

Italy has such a deep textile heritage. Why is that still relevant today?

Because it’s built on patience and knowledge. True quality cannot be rushed. Italian mills understand that excellence comes from time, from refinement, from generations of learning. That heritage gives us the confidence to innovate without losing our soul.

What excites you about working with Clements+Church?

There is a completely shared philosophy. Clements+Church understands restraint. You don’t chase trends, you refine them. When
our fabrics are used by a brand that values craftsmanship, proportion and individuality, the result feels authentic. That’s very important to us.

This Spring collection is shot in Rome. Does place influence how you see cloth?

Definitely. Our design team is constantly looking for inspiration, and we are blessed to live in a country where everywhere you look you’ll find centuries of art, culture and history.

Looking ahead, what do you believe the future of luxury looks like?

Quiet confidence. Thoughtful consumption. Fewer pieces, better made. Brands that invest in people, craft and long-term vision will endure.
