Reinventing Denim with the University of Arts Plymouth
The Reinvention of Denim
At Clements and Church, we believe reinvention is the essence of style, so this season, we’ve invited a new generation of creatives to help us reimagine one of the world’s most iconic garments: denim.
We’ve launched a live project with the talented second-year students of BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Marketing at Arts University Plymouth. Their brief? To reposition and relaunch Clements and Church Custom Denim as a defining piece of luxury casualwear — without compromising the refinement and prestige at the heart of our brand.
It’s an exciting challenge. The global denim market is worth over $70 billion, but when it comes to luxury, most jeans remain “off-the-rack.” Clements and Church offer something very different: custom-made denim, cut from the finest Italian selvedge, designed and measured by our expert tailors for a precise, flattering silhouette. Every detail is chosen by the client — from fit and fabric shade, to stitching, labels and rivets. A wardrobe essential, elevated.
Over the coming months, Plymouth students will explore how to tell this story in fresh, compelling ways. From branding and packaging to campaigns and content, they’ll be tasked with making C+C denim one of the most recognisable names in luxury casualwear.
The top concepts will be shortlisted in February, with a finalist showcase and winner announced in March 2026.
For us, it’s about more than denim. It’s about collaboration, creativity, and celebrating the future of fashion media.
Because great ideas, like great tailoring, are always made to measure. Reinventing Denim.
"I love being able to bring in members of our community to show some of the behind the curtain bits of how the creative side of things in Clements+Church come about so jumped at the chance to get involved with Plymouth University, We wanted to set a task on something people wear from all backgrounds and so what better than denim as a project. I can't wait to see the results of all their hard work and effort. "
