In this exclusive conversation, England and Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins sits down with his Clements+Church tailor, Ian Roper, to talk football, style and what drives him on and off the pitch. The amazing photos are by Rhys Frampton, we loved working alongside him and he really makes our clothes sing, check out more of his work on the below link.

Ian Roper: Ollie, your career has gone from strength to strength. What keeps you motivated?

Ollie Watkins: I’ve always been driven by self-improvement. Whether in training, on match day, or in everyday life, I push myself to be better. It’s that mindset that’s taken me from playing in the lower leagues to representing my country.

IR: How important is personal style to you?

OW: It’s a reflection of who I am – confident, relaxed and always evolving. Whether I’m dressing up for an event or keeping it casual, I like to feel comfortable but put-together. That’s why I love working with Clements+Church; everything is made to fit me perfectly, so I can look good without trying too hard.

IR: You’ve worn some standout looks from Clements+Church. What draws you to the brand?

OW: The craftsmanship is second to none, and everything feels effortless to wear. The Summer suit I wore for this shoot, made from lightweight kapok, is a game-changer – it’s breathable, stylish, and perfect for warm-weather dressing. Plus, I appreciate the attention to detail and the personal service I get when working with you.

IR: What’s your go-to look off the pitch?

OW: A well-tailored jacket over a clean, simple tee with relaxed trousers – smart but easy. When I’m travelling or heading to a game, I like pieces that balance comfort and style, so Clements+Church’s modern casualwear and outerwear fit perfectly into my wardrobe.

IR: What’s next for you, both in football and beyond?

OW: I’m focused on giving everything I can for Aston Villa and England. Off the pitch, I’m enjoying fatherhood and spending time with my family. And of course, I’ll keep refining my style – because looking good makes me feel good!
