More about the Grand

The Grand Hotel Birmingham is an iconic Victorian landmark on the elegant Colmore Row, right in the heart of the city. Originally opened in 1879, the hotel was the vision of local industrialist Isaac Horton and quickly became a symbol of grandeur and sophistication. Its French Renaissance-inspired architecture, with intricate stonework and the opulent Grosvenor Suites, made it a focal point for high society gatherings throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

After standing dormant for almost two decades, The Grand reopened in 2021 following a meticulous £50 million restoration. The interiors now blend heritage charm with modern luxury—think grand marble staircases, decorative ceilings, and Art Deco flourishes alongside stylish contemporary finishes. The hotel boasts 185 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, alongside lively social spaces like the Madeleine Bar and the chic New York-style brasserie, Isaac’s.

Perfectly situated in the Colmore Business District, The Grand overlooks St Philip’s Cathedral and Cathedral Square. It’s just a short stroll from Birmingham’s major attractions, including the Bullring, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, and The Mailbox. Both New Street and Snow Hill stations are within a five-minute walk, offering excellent connections across the city and beyond.

Whether hosting a glittering event, an intimate gathering, or enjoying a luxurious stay, The Grand provides an elegant setting steeped in Birmingham’s rich history, with the energy of the city’s vibrant cultural and social scene right on the doorstep.
