Our Creative Director Anna Moore speaks with Eleanor Cook, Showroom Coordinator at Holland & Sherry, about heritage, relationships and why exceptional tailoring begins with exceptional cloth.

Holland & Sherry celebrates its 190th anniversary this year. What does being part of that legacy mean to you?

Eleanor Cook: We’re incredibly proud of it. Holland & Sherry has occupied different homes across London over the years, but our connection to tailoring has remained constant. We see ourselves as caretakers of a legacy built over 190 years, and everyone here is passionate about ensuring it continues for the next 190.

Your role centres around supporting some of the finest tailoring houses in the world. What have you learned about clients over the years?

Eleanor Cook: Every client is different. Our job is to build relationships and understand how we can help their business grow. Whether a client is large or small, they’re equally important to us. It’s about understanding people, listening carefully, and finding the best way to help them succeed.

Fabric sits at the heart of both Holland & Sherry and Clements+Church. Why is cloth still so important?

Eleanor Cook: Cloth is the foundation of every garment, but even the finest fabric needs great tailoring to bring it to life. The right cloth, cut and fit must work in harmony, and that’s when you create something with real longevity.

We’ve worked together on several collections. What does that creative process look like from your side?

Eleanor Cook: It’s one of my favourite parts of the job. I love seeing your early ideas, mood boards and sketches, then helping find the fabrics that bring them to life. We’re often a little removed from the finished garment, so being involved in that creative journey and then seeing the final collection is incredibly rewarding.

Luxury has changed significantly in recent years. What do clients value most today?

Eleanor Cook: Discretion. The relationship between a client and their tailor is incredibly personal. Trust is built through discretion, and some of the best luxury experiences happen quietly behind the scenes.

What excites you about the future of Holland & Sherry?

Eleanor Cook: Continuing to evolve while remaining a constant for our clients. New collections and innovation matter, but relationships, service and exceptional cloth will always remain at the heart of what we do.
