Dressing Lewis and his Groomsmen

There are weddings, and then there are those weddings — the ones where every last detail has been considered, the atmosphere is exactly right, and the tailoring has to be perfect. Lewis’s summer wedding to Loretta in Italy was exactly that kind of occasion, and we were truly honoured to be part of it.

When Lewis first came to us at Clements & Church, the brief was clear from the very first conversation: sharp, confident, and timeless. A suit that would feel just as relevant in photographs twenty years from now as it did standing at the altar. That’s a challenge we relish.
Our process always begins with listening. We sat down with Lewis and talked through the feel of the day — the venue, the season, what he and Loretta were hoping to create. A summer wedding in Italy called for something that could carry elegance through the warmth of the day, so we worked with a fine, lightweight wool cloth that breathes beautifully, holds its line, and drapes with real confidence from ceremony to dancefloor. The result was a suit cut with the clean, structured silhouette we’re known for — contemporary in feel, but rooted in the kind of classic British tailoring that never goes out of style.
Of course, a great groom deserves a great wedding party around him. Dressing the groomsmen is one of the most enjoyable parts of any commission — it’s where we get to build a cohesive look across a group of individuals, each with their own build and personality. We worked closely with Lewis to ensure the party looked polished and harmonious without being uniform. Subtle variations in cut and fit meant that every man wore his suit rather than the other way around, while coordinating details — linings, buttons, pocket squares — tied the whole look together with quiet confidence.
At Lake Como, set against the backdrop of a glorious summer’s day, everything came together exactly as we’d hoped. There’s always a moment just before the ceremony — when the light catches the cloth, everyone stands a little taller, and the day suddenly feels very real. It’s a moment we never tire of.
It was a genuine privilege to be part of Lewis and Loretta’s wedding day. We wish them every happiness for the years ahead — and we think they scrubbed up rather well.

"I always love the challenge of a summer wedding and the chance to dress a group, I wanted to create a classic navy suit that would stand the test of time but also hold up to the warmth of Italy."
