Bespoke Tailoring

Our bespoke tailoring service

At Clements and Church, we believe true style begins with individuality. That’s why our bespoke tailoring service is at the heart of everything we do. Every bespoke garment we create is a unique expression of the person wearing it—cut by hand, crafted with precision, and finished to the highest standards of British tailoring. Whether you’re commissioning your first bespoke, custom-made suit or adding to an established wardrobe, we’re here to guide you through an experience as exceptional as the garment itself.

Bespoke tailoring for all occasions

At Clements and Church, bespoke tailoring isn’t just a service—it’s a philosophy. From the first conversation to the final fitting, we take pride in offering a deeply personal, expertly guided experience that results in something truly one of a kind: a garment crafted entirely around you. Our bespoke service is built on traditional craftsmanship, contemporary styling, and a belief in the power of personal expression. Each piece we create is cut by hand, made from the finest materials, and tailored to reflect not only your shape, but your character, lifestyle, and intention. Whether you require a business suit, wedding attire, or are building a long-term wardrobe, we ensure the journey is as rewarding as the result.

It starts with a conversation

Your bespoke journey begins with a one-to-one consultation—either in one of our boutiques or a setting of your choosing. This initial meeting is about more than measurements. We get to know you: what you do, how you like to dress, what you need the garment for, and how you want to feel when you wear it.

From there, we guide you through our curated collection of the world’s finest cloths—from super 120s wool and Scottish tweeds to luxurious Italian silks and Irish linens. With thousands of swatches at your fingertips, we help you select the perfect fabric for the season, the occasion, and your personal taste.

Designing the details

This is where your style starts to take shape. Every element of your bespoke garment is customisable—from lapel shape and trouser rise to pocket styles, stitching finishes, and lining designs. We’ll advise on what works best for your proportions and posture while ensuring every decision aligns with your vision.

Want a softly structured Italian silhouette or a sharp, architectural British shoulder? A wide peak lapel or a subtle notch? A classic navy worsted or something with bold check and character? We make it happen. Personal touches such as monogrammed linings, contrast buttons, or under-collar embroidery add further depth to a garment that is truly your own.

Precision measurements and master cutting

Next, we take up to 30 individual measurements, along with posture analysis and photographic references to map out how your body moves and rests. These details allow our cutters to create a unique paper pattern that becomes the blueprint for your garment. No templates. No shortcuts.

The pattern is then handed to our skilled tailors who begin constructing your piece by hand—starting with a loose, early-stage version known as a baste.

The fitting journey

Bespoke tailoring is not a one-step process—it’s a dialogue between tailor and client, refined over several stages:

Baste Fitting: This first fitting uses loosely stitched panels to check the structure and general fit. Here, we focus on the balance, drape, pitch of sleeves, and overall silhouette. It’s an opportunity to reshape the garment before it’s sewn permanently.

Forward Fitting: Now more formed, this version allows us to fine-tune the garment. We review sleeve lengths, collar roll, waist shaping, and trouser break. Adjustments are pinned and marked by hand.

Final Fitting: The finished piece is presented. We make any final tweaks to ensure a flawless fit. On average, a bespoke suit goes through two to three fittings, though more are welcome—especially for first-time clients or more complex garments.

We’re not here to rush. We’re here to get it right.

Craftsmanship at every turn

Our garments are constructed with a floating canvas—never fused—for longevity and shape retention. Sleeves are set by hand. Buttonholes are hand-finished. Linings are inserted with precision. We cut, stitch, and press each suit using methods refined over generations of tailoring, blending tradition with modern sensibility.

This level of craftsmanship not only ensures a perfect fit but also a garment that moves with you, breathes with you, and lasts for years—not seasons.
