For our AW25 pinstripe collection at Clements and Church, we wanted to do more than reference an era — we wanted to capture a mood. Few moments in fashion history feel as charged, as quietly seductive, or as culturally transformative as Giorgio Armani’s tailoring in American Gigolo. That film didn’t just dress a character; it defined a new kind of elegance. For AW25, our pinstripes and our editorial shoot draw directly on that cinematic world: effortlessly confident, refined, and undeniably alluring.
In American Gigolo, Armani reimagined tailoring through softness. Gone were stiff shoulders and rigid construction; in their place came fluid drape, gentle structure and lightweight fabrics that moved with the wearer. The result was a silhouette that signalled power without aggression — a blend of sophistication and sensuality. For AW25, we channel that philosophy in our pinstripes. The stripes elongate the form, the cloth shifts with light, and the construction allows natural movement rather than constraint. It’s tailoring designed to express elegance with ease.
The film’s visual language — Venetian-blind shadows, sleek interiors, subtle monochromes — also shaped our AW25 shoot. We positioned our pinstripe looks in environments where texture, contrast and minimalism could speak. Just as Armani used light to amplify the mood of each look, we focused on atmosphere: shadow, reflection and the interplay of matte and sheen across wool, silk and cashmere blends. The result is an editorial narrative that feels intimate yet elevated.
'I've always loved the idea of using American Gigolo as an inspiration piece, I was able to shift it through our lens at Clements+Church though and really create something new for us. It also turned into a poignant love letter to Armani who we all owe such a debt to in the industry. I'm so glad we were able to really celebrate both elements as as one without the other just wouldn't be possible.'
